DESCRIPCIÓN

You can train yourself to generate new ideas on demand; our brains are built to synthesize connections. This course will focus on practical tools and processes for thinking more creatively about problems and projects.

How do I generate or find ideas that I (or my team) can accomplish? How do I nurture and develop these ideas? Is my idea any good? All these issues can paralyze, often because the tools to generate new ideas are lacking, or an idea founders before it matures, or if it presents an actual business opportunity. To combat these idea killers we need to develop new skills, new relationships to information, new techniques to model and understand ideas, and to embrace the culture of rapid prototyping and experimentation which quickly validate ideas; we need to learn to follow that best of all advice: Just do it.

The course focuses on developing a deeper understanding of how to identify opportunities and build solutions in the entrepreneurial process, which requires systemic creative processes to define and develop new ideas. The course will provide students with an understanding of, and experience with, the role of creativity in the key phases of the entrepreneurial process: recognition of opportunistic problems and needs, understanding of the customer and the initial development of innovative solutions for the client’s needs and desires. Through a series of case discussions, individual exercises, and team-based activities, students will gain new skills in the application and implementation of creativity and ideas, and learn how to use these skills in a practical way.
